Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

LOCATION: New York, NY
For experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with specific experience in Aerospace and/or Systems Engineering. This position involves concept-to-delivery development of precision, high-reliability mechanical and mechatronic systems for NASA, the DoD and other clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Development of clearly-worded, testable system requirements based on the statement of work and proposal
  • Development of system architecture based on system requirements, with technical inputs from trade studies, senior engineers, etc.
  • Coordination of design of subsystems and integration of total system
  • Identification, analysis and resolution of program support deficiencies
  • Recommendation of alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures
  • Monitoring and control of changes in the system, hardware, and software requirements
  • Technical support to proposal writing teams
  • Mechanical design and analysis of complex mechanisms using CAD and FEA

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 5 years engineering experience, including requirements definition, system architecture, systems design, documentation, and testing
  • Demonstrated experience with full hardware development life cycle, from concept to customer site delivery
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills; demonstrated ability to interface with program management, customers and peers
  • Configuration management and/or project management experience
  • Experience with aerospace mechanisms a significant plus
  • Experience with Autodesk Inventor 3D modeling and ANSYS FEA or similar
  • Familiarity with MATLAB; familiarity with software design and/or programming a plus

EDUCATION REQUIRED: B.S. or M.S in Mechanical Engineering.

U.S. citizenship is required.

Junior Mechanical Engineer

Junior Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities include design (3D system design and production of 2D machine drawings for fabricated components), hands-on integration, testing, debug and installation of custom automation systems provided for NASA, DOD and industrial clients. Desirable ancillary skills include programming and controls capabilities as well as good writing and communication skills. Candidate must be a team player with strong initiative and excellent interpersonal skills for the facilitation and enhancement of company and client relationships. Candidate must also be willing to learn hands-on fabrication techniques.

EDUCATION REQUIRED: B.S. or M.S in Mechanical Engineering.

U.S. citizenship is required.
