IVA/EVA Mechanisms

astonaut-eva-nasa

Tools and equipment for use by astronauts must combine human factors and ease-of-use with the utmost reliability. For lunar surface operations, the design challenge is intensified by the presence of abrasive lunar dust.

Honeybee Robotics develops connectors, fasteners, and other technologies for IVA/EVA operations both on-orbit and on the lunar surface. Lunar analog and other field tests have taken Honeybee engineers to some of the most remote locations on earth, from the Pilbara in Western Australia to Devon Island in the Canadian Arctic. This first-hand experience, deploying technology in harsh and dusty environments with limited resources, strongly guides our IVA/EVA technology development programs.
