High performance in an ultra-compact package
Honeybee Robotics' 3D MiniLIDAR (3DML) is a groundbreaking sensor system that provides real-time 3D “pictures” for robotic applications such as navigation, short-range mapping, and situational awareness. Using a patent-pending lens-based scanning mechanism, 3DML gets the best of two worlds, achieving the small form factor and real-time frame rates associated with solid-state "flash" LIDAR, while maintaining the high resolution and wide field-of-view of a scanning system.
- Wide field of view. Thanks to its innovative scanning mechanism, 3DML attains a 90° horizontal x 60° vertical field-of-view (FOV) while maintaining a large aperture and small package size. This is key in robotic navigation applications, where a wide FOV is needed to obtain adequate near-field vision.
- Fast and flexible. Ranging over half a million points per second, the 3DML uses an interleaved raster scan pattern that resolves up to 630 x 420 points per frame. 3DML’s angular resolution, range resolution, and frame rate can be adjusted on the fly to conserve power and handle a variety of situations within a single mission.
- Small size, low power. All of this performance comes out of a device the size of a soda can with a typical power draw of 30W, enabling the sensor's integration into robotic platforms large and small.
